China Merchants Bank ("CMB") was established in 1987 in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the forefront of the reform and opening-up policy implementation, as the first joint-stock commercial bank held by enterprise legal persons in China and the first of its kind to be selected as a pilot bank in the national experiment for promotion of the banking industry reform with drives from outside governmental system.
