About Banking in Cape Verde
The World Economic Forum, in its report - The Global Competitiveness Report 2010–2011, has ranked Cape Verde at # 54 in terms of soundness of banks in the country.
The number of Bank Branches has grown from 53 in 2006 to 109 in 2011.
As of 2011, in terms of concentration of banks, Santiago Island continues to lead, with a total of 50 branches (46.3%), which reflects a 3.3% growth over 2010. As far as population coverage, the island has an average of about one agency/branch per 6,005 inhabitants.
