About Banking in Albania
The Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) was established when 9 banks came together to form the Albanian Bankers Club in Tirana. The AAB Charter was approved at the formation. On March 27, 2001, four more banks joined the club. The club later paved way for Albanian Association of Banks. The association now has 16 member banks.
The World Economic Forum, in its report - The Global Competitiveness Report 2010–2011, has ranked Albania at # 107 with a score of 4.5 in terms of soundness of banks in the country.
